The move to our larger facility in 2001, was in response to the growing demands of pet owners and veterinarians interested in natural products and complementary therapies. In relocating the company, a priority was to expand our warehousing and shipping capabilities, as well as expand our retail services to the Washington Metro area. Designed as a working warehouse, the new space offers room for increased product lines, along with a lending library and monthly health care presentations and events.

Meet Dempsey VP Shipping & Quality Control As we were settling into our warhouse in early 2001, I received a call from the Director of Kennels of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Sensitive to our loss of Mr. Belvedere just months earlier, Ruth explained that a young Maine Coon mix had been brought in with a very special demeanor. Would I consider meeting him, as she felt he needed a place where his showmanship would be appreciated and nurtured? Since then, this polydactal has taken his job quite seriously. He feels it his responsibility to test all the latest toys and treats. And while he may grant you a viewing of his latest performance at the checkout counter, don't turn your back if purchasing a bag of his favorite kibble . . . he's been known to offer known to offer his chomp of approval.		Meet Ripken IT Manager My staff had been after me for almost a year to get Dempsey a buddy. I'd held them off with the belief that Dempsey was quite happy running the show by himself, basking in the praise of all those who came to adore him. Then I took a tour of our new shelter and became spellbound. There, at eye-level, on the top shelf of a double story condo, lay a mass of Weegie fur. But it was his eyes that captured me. No gestures, no talking, just an open heart revealed through those golden-gree eyes. "Why wasn't I told about him," I asked a staff member and shelter volunteer. She laughed, reminding me that I'd forbidden mentioning any available felines. But fate is a funny thing, and the day after his arrival, he was diagnosed with bladder stones. Now, after months of a natural diet, herbal therapies, and losts of TLC, Ripken shines in his role as IT manager. Just don't expect any acknowledgement if he's busy at the fax or printer! Terri.
Meet Diva I often joke that Diva was a “accident”, but in reality she’s a gift. Late one night I received a call to help place this young kitten who’d been found on the street. After numerous calls, I found a foster home where I could place her . . . that is after the foster parents returned a few days later. Three months later, she continues to grace us with her presence. Clients ask for her and Ripken and Dempsey keep their eye on her . .. the jury is still out on having a baby sister.
